About Vende
Founded in 2014, Vende AS is a privately owned company based in Asker, Norway. We participate in the Norwegian startup ecosystem both as a passive investor and as an active contributor — shaping strategy, opening networks, and stepping into operational roles when that is what a company needs most.
What does Vende mean?
The name carries two meanings depending on where you stand.
In Norwegian — and across Scandinavian languages — vende means to turn. To change direction. To redirect. It is the word you use when a ship tacks, when a negative development reverses, when someone stops and points themselves somewhere new. Vende om — turn around. Vende hjem — return home. At its core it is about motion with intention.
In Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese — the Romance languages rooted in Latin vendere — vende means to sell. He sells. She sells. The market sells. It is the commercial act: finding someone who values what you have built enough to pay for it.
Both meanings describe the two hardest things in any startup. First you turn — you test, you learn, you redirect until you find what works. Then you sell — you prove that what you built has value in the world. Neither is optional. Most companies that fail get stuck at one or the other.
Validate faster. Build smarter. That duality is not a tagline — it is the name.
